Meet Eisenhower! Eisenhower is an adorable black and white medium haired kitty, he is roughly four years old. Eisenhower is our very sweet, special needs boy. As you can tell from his picture he has no eyes at all! His Lovely Heartland foster mom has two blind cats of her own, so every time she hears of a kitty with a sight problem needing help she steps up right away. So when she heard about a cat that had been dumped at a high kill shelter with two badly infected eyes, she arranged to have him taken to her vet immediately. We were all appalled at what we saw when we first met Eisenhower, he was dirty, covered in scabs, and his eyes were infected for years to the point that they had both ruptured and had to be removed! Needless to say he was a hot mess and had every reason to be crabby, but through it all he wanted nothing but to be cuddled and loved on. Eisenhower was so beat up looking we can’t say that we were surprised that he tested positive for FIV. Cats with FIV can live normal and healthy lives; it is transmitted through deep bite wounds. Many people mix FIV cats with their healthy cats assuming everyone gets along.

Eisenhower would easily be able to mix in with healthy cats or dogs. He just needs to be introduced slowly; being blind he gets scared at first since he cannot see what he is going up against. Like any blind kitty once he explores his surroundings he settles in quickly as easily. In fact, he gets around so well for the most part you would swear he could see somehow! Did we mention how much of a love bug he is?? We could hardly get a picture of him, every time you come into the room with him he immediately turns into a mush ball. All purrs and leg rubs! Eisenhower has been neutered, microchipped, up to date on all vaccinations, tested positive for FIV, and had his eyes were surgically removed. Don’t worry about his litter box habits; he’s never missed his box once! Eisenhower is a very special guy and he needs a special home to recognize how much potential he has! His foster mom loves blind cats and will gladly answer any questions you may have!
