This gorgeous Maine Coon mix is Beckley.  He and several of his kitty friends were rescued from a high-kill shelter after they were picked up from a hoarding situation.  Because Beckley wasn’t properly cared for or socialized when he was young, he is rather timid.  He doesn’t have a mean bone in his body, but he does take time to warm up to people.  After a couple of months in his foster home, Beckley is finally starting to show his true colors.  He seems to enjoy petting and affection now and will often greet his foster mom by rubbing up against her legs or head-bumping her hand.  He is still a bit hand-shy though and will retreat if you approach him too quickly.  He also has a playful side and will go nuts when you break out a feather toy or bouncy ball.

Due to Beckley’s shy and gentle demeanor, he requires a quieter home and patient owners who will give him the necessary time and TLC that he needs in order to feel comfortable in his new surroundings.  However, this sweet boy has a lot of love to offer, he just needs time to trust and build a rapport with his owners, but we promise that he is worth the wait!  Beckley has a gorgeous, long silky coat with a thick mane and big, fluffy tail.  He does require brushing once or twice a week to keep it soft and tangle-free.  He loves the company of other cats and would do best with another feline companion or two who can help bring him out of his shell.  A home without young children or energetic dogs would be best as they may be too much for his timid soul.  Beckley is neutered, current on vaccinations, negative for Feline Leukemia/FIV and microchipped – DOB 3/15/11, tag # 8285JB
